STRATEGY: I like having a strategy! I find myself evaluating
what I’m doing frequently as I consider what will open the
eyes of those I am trying to reach. So, here’s my plan
without the details. When I engage an M in conversation and
they are open to spiritual matters, I have one goal in that
conversation. I want to inject an ounce of doubt in their belief
system and then follow that by injecting a liter of Truth.
NEEDLE IN A HAYSTACK: You’ve heard the say, “It’s like
looking for a needle in a haystack.” That’s exactly what I feel
like I’m doing in regards to ministry here in Malawi. There are
15 million people here and it is difficult in my area to find
nationals that are burdened for their own people. I have
found three men after 2 years and I am so thankful for them.
Please pray that more believers will become heart broken
over the lostness that surrounds them.
OUR FIRST VOLUNTEER TEAM: A team from Mountain View
Baptist Church in Hickory, North Carolina came to visit us at
the beginning of August. They were GREAT! We spent 5
nights tent camping in the bush working an M area that I
have frequented many times over the last 8 months. A LOT
OF SEED was planted during this visit! The team spent their
time here sharing personal testimonies, telling stories and
praying for the people that they encountered. They also
experienced some hostility…as they walked one of the trails
a lady stopped them and told them not to go into the village
that was ahead because the people in that village were told
to stone anyone who came there talking about Jesus. Please
pray for the people of Chikweo to find the Truth and pray for
the believers to continue ministering boldly in that area.
AMANDA LEAVES FOR BOARDING SCHOOL: On August
30th we flew to Nairobi, Kenya to take Amanda to boarding
school. We know that this is what she needed academically
and socially but it’s still a difficult thing to leave your 15 year
old daughter in a foreign country. She seems to be adjusting
well to life there and has made some new friends. Please
pray for her to apply herself in her classes and that God
would protect her spiritually and physically. Please pray for
us as we miss her being here with us.
MOZAMBIQUE MOVE: We have just applied for our
residence Visa for Mozambique. Please pray that the Visa will
not be delayed as we really need to get moved to the new
location and begin our ministry there. Please pray that we
will begin hearing and speaking Chiyawo.
SECOND VOLUNTEER TEAM: Bruce and Charlotte Burton
came to visit us at the beginning of September. They are
from our home church, FBC Owensboro, and the timing could
not have been better. We had just returned from taking
Amanda to RVA and were struggling. We’re preparing for
the move to Mozambique and we just needed a little time to
relax as the stress seems to be building. Not only did we
have time to relax but Bruce and Charlotte were so
encouraging and when they left were refreshed and ready to
continue the task before us. Thank you Bruce and
Charlotte! We love you!
